New five-classroom building at Libermann Spiritan School Templeogue
opens to students
30 January 2026
On Thursday, January 30th, our school community gathered for a truly special occasion as we officially opened our new five-classroom building at Libermann Spiritan School Templeogue.
We were honoured to welcome the Minister for Special Education, Michael Moynihan, who joined us to formally open the building. We were also delighted to be joined by the Archbishop of Dublin, Dermot Farrell, who blessed the new classrooms, and the Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Pamela Kearns, who marked the significance of the occasion with us. Their presence made the day especially meaningful for our entire school community.
Construction of the new modular building began in August 2025, marking an exciting new chapter for our school. After months of progress and anticipation, our students and staff were delighted to begin learning and teaching in the new classrooms on December 11th, 2025. Since then, the bright, modern and spacious environment has already made a wonderful difference to daily school life.
The official ceremony on January 30th included both the formal opening and a blessing of the building, recognising not only the importance of the new facilities but also the strong sense of community and shared purpose within our school.
We are especially grateful to our Parents’ Council, who organised and provided delicious refreshments for the occasion. Students, staff, parents and invited guests all enjoyed a warm and celebratory morning together, reflecting on how far we have come and looking forward to the opportunities this new building will provide for our students.
This new five-classroom building represents growth, progress and continued investment in the education and wellbeing of our students. It was a proud and joyful day for everyone at Libermann Spiritan School.
Official launch day with An Tánaiste, Micheál Martin TD
4 December 2023
Libermann Spiritan School Templeogue (LSST) had its official launch day on Monday 4 December 2023 when the Tánaiste, Micheál Martin TD, officially opened the school with a tree planting ceremony in the grounds.
The school provides a safe and caring learning environment for autistic students with complex learning needs who require the support of a special school from the age of four years through to 18 years of age.
Vivienne Wynne, Principal of LSST said: “I’m very excited that we have arrived at this point. A lot of work has gone into getting us to where we are today, from the planning which started nearly four years ago to opening our doors to the first 30 students just three months ago. Our school community is committed to nurturing a warm and welcoming environment for our students and staff, and to encourage them to develop a strong sense of attachment and belonging in our school.”
Chairperson of the Board of Management, Paul Foley added: “It is our intention to offer an exceptional experience of education and support for all our students. I am delighted we have made it to this point, and I look forward to the next phase of our development over the next few years when we will be able to facilitate 156 students.”
The launch will be attended by parents, families and people from the local Templeogue communities in addition to other key stakeholders from within the school network, with a keynote address from Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence Micheál Martin after which there will be a tree planting in the school grounds.
Tánaiste, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence, Micheál Martin TD, said: “Education has been a life-long passion of mine and it is my core belief that there should be equality of access and opportunity for all children. I am delighted that LSST has begun the journey of providing much-needed support for children in the Templeogue area and it is heartening to know that there is an ambitious plan to provide places for an additional 120 children in the coming years.”
